Evansville Police arrested Zachary Wilder, 35, for reporting he had been stabbed at an East Side clinic; police say he stabbed himself

A man faces a charge of False Reporting after police responded to an alleged stabbing on Evansville’s East Side. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

First responders were dispatched to Mercy Urgent Care in the 700 block of S. Green River Road just before 8:00 Tuesday morning, where a person was reportedly stabbed.

EPD Sgt. Anthony Aussiecker says officers arrived and found 35-year-old Zachary Wilder suffering from a stab wound to his leg.

Police were told that a suspect left the scene, headed south on Green River.

But Aussiecker says the investigation quickly revealed that Wilder stabbed himself while he was behind the building.

After he was treated at the hospital, officers took Wilder to the Vanderburgh County Jail on a preliminary charge of False Reporting.
