The head of the Evansville Regional Economic Partnership says Toyota's $200 million in its Gibson County plant will help retain young people

The head of E-REP is praising Toyota’s decision to invest more in the company’s Gibson County plant. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

The Evansville Regional Economic Partnership helped spread the news that the automaker was investing 200-million dollars to increase capacity for the Toyota Grand Highlander.

Former Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke is President and CEO of E-REP:

"Anytime they invest here — or in this case re-invest here — is good news because it means greater instilled confidence in the region."

Winnecke says Toyota can also keep young people here:

"Students who might not be inclined to continue their education recognize that Toyota is a great career."

Toyota Boshoku employs 73-hundred workers at the huge Princeton plant.

They produced nearly 430-thousand vehicles in 2025.

It’s not clear if the new investment will create any new jobs.

Toyota also announced an 800-million dollar investment in its Georgetown, Kentucky plant.
