The Tri-State could see tornadoes Thursday afternoon and evening. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast Illinois in effect until 8 p.m. Central Time.
The watch follows forecaster’s increased confidence that severe storms will roll through the Evansville area, ahead of cooler temperatures.
The weather service has been monitoring the storm potential for several days.
Forecasters say everyone in or near the watch area should stay aware and be ready to take shelter if a warning is issued.
They suggest making sure your smartphone is set to alert you of weather warnings.
Aside from the tornado risk, the weather service is also predicting thunderstorms with strong straight line winds and possible hail.
