Vanderburgh County, IN, Sheriff's Deputy Evan Luigs has resigned after being charged with drunken driving

A Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputy accused of drunken driving has resigned. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

Sheriff Noah Robinson says Deputy Evan Luigs submitted his resignation after he was arrested at the scene of an accident and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated.

Robinson said it was the second alcohol-related incident involving the deputy in just over a year.

The sheriff was planning to fire Luigs after the latest incident.

He was off-duty at the time of Sunday’s accident near Highway 41 and Ruffian Way.
No one was injured in the crash.

Luigs also faces charges of Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test and Failure to Yield Right of Way.
