Forecasters say chances for snow this weekend are increasing. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
The National Weather Service has added southwest Indiana to a Winter Storm Watch that will go into effect Friday night.
Originally, the watch was for areas south of the Ohio River.
Meteorologist Justin Gibbs says the Tri-State will likely see at least four inches of snow, with a band of heavier amounts:
"We could see a better potential for, you know, we're talking 8, 10, maybe even 12 inches of snow somewhere in that heavy snow band."
Gibbs offers a snow timeline:
"Friday night and Saturday (will) be kind of moderate but persistent during the day. There'll probably be a little bit of a lull. We'll get a few inches in that first batch. And then the heavier stuff starts Saturday night into Sunday."
Gibbs cautions the forecast could still change but for now, snow chances are “trending upward.”
