An Evansville man faces numerous charges after authorities say he led them on a late night pursuit. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
Detectives with the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force say they tried to stop a speeding vehicle in the area of Highway 41 and Riverside Drive at about 11:00 Monday night.
They say the driver, later identified as 28-year-old Nazhee Daniel Flowers, refused to stop and hit a marked Sheriff’s vehicle.
Deputies pursued Flowers on Riverside to near Culver Drive, where they say he hit a parked vehicle and a brick wall.
The sheriff’s office says Flowers tried again to flee, striking another Sheriff’s vehicle, before getting out of the car and running.
After a short foot pursuit, officers took Flowers into custody.
Detectives say they found four plastic baggies containing nearly 200 grams of suspected cocaine.
They also say they found a loaded handgun, an adult female, and an infant inside Flowers’ vehicle.
Authorities say they had no idea the child and woman were in the car. They were not injured.
Flowers face charges including Dealing Cocaine, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
