Jury Convicts Richmond of Killing Doerr

Jurors have convicted Larry Richmond Sr., 46, of fatally shooting Evansville firefighter Robert Doerr

A jury has convicted Larry Richmond Sr. of killing an Evansville firefighter. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

Jurors reached the guilty verdict against Richmond late Wednesday night for the 2019 murder of firefighter Robert Doerr.

Richmond was convicted of the fatal shooting while Doerr’s wife, Elizabeth Fox-Doerr, was convicted in an earlier trial for her role in the killing and was sentenced to 90 years in prison.

The late night verdict against Richmond came after the prosecution and defense finished their closing arguments Wednesday afternoon.

The prosecution said Richmond and Fox-Doerr were having an affair and conspired to kill Doerr.

Fox-Doerr did not testify in Richmond’s trial.

The jury was due back in court Thursday to consider sentencing for Richmond.
