Autopsies have been performed following a murder-suicide in Newburgh. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
The Warrick County Coroner’s Office confirmed that autopsies related to the deaths of 35-year-old Brian Collins of Chandler and 31-year-old Ashley Collins of Newburgh have been completed.
The couple had recently divorced and their bodies were found in Ashley Collins’ home Saturday night.
Coroner Alissa Enright says final autopsy results will determine the cause and manner of death and will likely take 6-to-8 weeks to complete.
Enright says she recognizes the significant public and media interest in the manner and cause of death but due to the “sensitive nature” of the case, she says no further information will be released until the final results are in.
Enright says the coroner’s office is committed to accuracy and to handling the matter with care and responsibility, especially given the risks associated with detailed reporting in suicide-related cases.
She notes support is available 24 hours a day through the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 9-8-8 or the local crisis hotline at 812-422-1100.
