Southwest Indiana will have a voice on the state’s utility board. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry says former state legislator Bob Deig has been appointed to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
Terry is thanking all who joined her in advocating for a Southwest Indiana representative on the IURC.
She says “our collective voices made a difference.”
The Democratic mayor is also thanking Republican Governor Mike Braun for recognizing the area needs a voice in the state’s regulatory decisions.
CenterPoint Energy customers have seen steep increases in utility bills in recent years. Those hikes were approved by the IURC.
Deig has a record of political service in both Vanderburgh and Posey counties.
