WNIN TV has received a badly needed financial boost. WNIN's John Gibson has details:
The Public Media Bridge Fund has announced grants totaling 26-million dollars to 74 stations across the country.
The fundraising effort was launched after state and federal cuts to public media.
WNIN President and CEO Tim Black says the local TV operation received about 500-thousand dollars.
He says the grant is certainly welcome but he points out compared to WNIN’s funding gap of one-and-half million dollars the station is “still quite a distance from closing our shortfall for the fiscal year.”
Black also points out that WNIN radio was not eligible for first-round Bridge Funds.
He says the station continues to appreciate the generosity of local donors who, with this grant, are helping WNIN get closer to erasing its big funding deficit.
