CenterPoint Energy says it will focus on customer affordability and reliable service in its new 20-year plan. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
CenterPoint has submitted its 2025 Integrated Resource Plan with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
The company’s plan includes cancellation of nearly one-billion dollars in what it calls “non-economical renewable projects.”
CenterPoint says those cancellations will save its southern Indiana customers about 18-dollars a month in current and future costs.
The company also says it’s delaying “certain higher-cost projects that would increase near-term customer bills.”
CenterPoint’s customers have been dealing with steep bill increases.
The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Councilor says more than 16-thousand customer accounts were 60 days or more past due as of September.
CenterPoint Indiana President Mike Roeder says the company has “listened closely to stakeholders” and worked together to address customers’ future energy needs and priorities.
Roeder calls the new plan a “vital strategic roadmap” that defines the appropriate mix of generation required to meet the region’s future energy needs, support potential economic growth, and prioritize customer affordability.
