Police in Owensboro, KY say two people were injured in vehicle crashes after gunfire

Owensboro Police are investigating gunfire that caused two vehicles to crash. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The OPD says officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the 1700 block of Parrish Plaza Drive late Wednesday night.

Witnesses reported that vehicles fled the area and subsequently crashed nearby.

The OPD says officers found a wrecked vehicle with an unconscious driver and immediately began providing medical aid.

They also found the operator of a second crashed vehicle who needed medical assistance.

Both drivers were transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates one of the vehicles was struck multiple times by gunfire but neither driver was hit.

Investigators recovered a firearm and multiple shell casings at the scene.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Owensboro Police.
