Indiana State Police and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff stress safety on Halloween

Police agencies are once again stressing Halloween safety. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Indiana State Police say young trick-or-treaters should be accompanied by adults; older kids should stay in groups and have a cellphone; never enter a home to retrieve candy; wear reflective tape on your costume or carry a flashlight or glow stick; don’t eat candy until parents or an adult can inspect it; and only visit homes where the porch light is on.

Drivers are urged to slow down, especially in residential areas, watch for kids crossing roadways, and don’t drive distracted,

Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson says more deputies will be on patrol on Halloween.

He also urges residents take “reasonable precautions,” watch your kids, let them enjoy the night, and have a good time.”

If you see any suspicious activity, call 9-1-1.
