A new warrant has been issued for Jailani Chew, 18, over a shots fired incident two days before the shooting of Evansville Police officer Sam Taylor

Another arrest warrant has issued for the man accused of wounding an Evansville Police officer. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

18-year-old Jailani Chew is already in custody and the new warrant will be served at the Vanderburgh County jail.

It’s in reference to a “shots fired” run on September 19th in the 700 block of E Chandler Ave.

The EPD says responding officers found numerous shell casings in the area.

They collected the casings and submitted them
for testing.

Two days later, Chew was accused of shooting an EPD officer after fleeing a car stop.

Police say officers recovered the firearm Chew used and ballistic testing determined the same gun was used in both incidents.

The wounded officer, Sam Taylor, continues to recover.

Chew now faces charges in both the shots fired incident and the officer-involved shooting.
