Evansville Police say Michael Pease struck a child with a minivan and left the scene

A suspect has been arrested after a child was hit by a minivan in Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Police were called to Joan Avenue and Joan Place in the Diamond Villa neighborhood Sunday evening, where the child was struck and the driver had fled the scene.

The EPD says the child lost consciousness, regained consciousness, and was taken to a local hospital.

Police say the child’s condition is stable and is expected to recover.

Officers spoke with multiple witnesses and got a description of the suspect vehicle.

Police spotted a white minivan matching the description parked at a motel on Fares Avenue.

Officers arrested Michael Pease, who they say admitted to driving the van but denied hitting the child.

Pease faces multiple charges including Hit and Run Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Possession of Methamphetamine with a Prior Conviction, and Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon.
