The City of Evansville has expanded the METS Micro system into the Jacobsville neighborhood. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The expansion adds 800 residents to the micro system, which resembles a ride share service.
Rides can be scheduled via the METS Micro app or by phone, offering what the city calls “affordable, curb-to-curb transportation.”
A grant from Deaconess Health System helped expand the program’s total coverage to 20-and-a-half square miles and nearly 67-thousand residents.
Deaconess Midtown Hospital is within the expanded service area.
It also extends METS Micro access to the Civic Center, Ford Center, Victory Theatre, CK Newsome Center, Old National Events Plaza, the Denton Federal Building, and the downtown post office.
The new zone goes live Monday.
Mayor Stephanie Terry the expansion will help more Evansville residents get to vital services, jobs, and schools.
