A Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputy has received statewide recognition. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
The Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Matt Gardner has been honored as one of Indiana’s Traffic Safety All-Stars.
Gardner was also named among the Top 25 DUI Enforcement Officers at the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute’s annual awards ceremony at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Thursday.
The DUI Awards honor officers from across the state who demonstrate “exceptional dedication to removing impaired drivers from the roads.”
Recipients are selected based on their enforcement efforts and commitment to reducing impaired driving crashes and fatalities.
Deputy Gardner made 56 DUI arrests in 2024.
Sheriff Noah Robinson says Gardner’s efforts “directly save lives.”
The Criminal Justice Institute says impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of traffic fatalities.
