Woman Charged in Fatal Teen Shooting

Evansville Police say Rachel Banks, 36, bought the gun for her son, who later accidentally shot and killed Jayvion'tae Cox, 14.

Police have arrested a woman in connection with the shooting death of an Evansville teen. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The EPD says 36-year-old Rachel Banks is accused of buying the gun involved in the accidental fatal shooting of 14-year-old Jayvion'tae Cox.

Banks faces charges of Dangerous Control of a Firearm, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, Dealing Marijuana and Reckless Homicide.

Police say evidence showed Banks purchased the firearm for her juvenile son, who later accidentally shot Cox.

Detectives say they also found evidence that Banks was assisting her juvenile son in purchasing marijuana.
