Juvenile Dies in Apparent Accidental Shooting

Evansville Police say two juveniles thought a gun was unloaded but it discharged, killing one of them

A juvenile is dead after an apparent accidental shooting in Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of E. Cherry St. Thursday afternoon after a report of shots fired.

A caller told Central Dispatch that a juvenile male had been shot.

Emergency personnel responded, but the juvenile did not survive his injuries.

Evansville Police say the victim was shot by another juvenile who was handling a firearm they believed was unloaded.

The EPD says the second juvenile, along with their parents, cooperated during the investigation, but they were charged with Reckless Homicide and Dangerous Possession of a Firearm.

There’s no word yet on the name of the young victim or those who face charges.
