Evansville Police say a 6th grader brought an unloaded gun to school. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The EPD was requested at Delaware School Wednesday after administrators learned a male student had a handgun.
Sgt. Anthony Aussieker says school staff was notified that the gun was in his backpack, inside his locker.
School staff found the gun and secured it before police arrived.
The EPD says the student admitted to bringing the gun to school but denied any intent to use it.
Police took him to the Youth Care Center and he faces additional disciplinary action from the EVSC.
The EPD praised the swift response by the Delaware School staff.
There were no threats made to any students or staff.
