Susan Haynie, 74, was found deceased in her Evansville home; a "person of interest" is in custody

Evansville Police say the death of an elderly woman in her East Side home is now being now investigated as a homicide. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The Vanderburgh County Coroner has identified the victim as 74-year-old Susan Haynie.

She was found deceased inside her home in the 3300 block of E. Gum St. on August 27th.

Initially, police described it as a “death investigation” but EPD Sgt. Anthony Aussiecker now says investigators determined it’s a homicide.

Aussiecker says a person of interest has been identified and arrested on an unrelated charge.

There’s no word yet on the name of that person.

Susan Haynie was a long-time Evansville realtor.

Her obituary states she guided more than 2,000 clients through the buying and selling process to “find their place to call home.”
