One man is jailed and more arrests are possible after a fight and gunfire in Evansville over the weekend. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The EPD says officers were dispatched to a complaint of individuals blocking vehicles near the intersection of Kentucky Avenue and Gum Street early Sunday morning.
Shortly after the initial call, word came that a gun had been fired.
Officers determined an altercation initially occurred at a separate location between the victim and the offender, 29-year-old Jeron Sebree.
Police say the fight resumed near Kentucky and Gum with another offender.
Investigators say during the second altercation, Sebree intervened, striking the victim multiple times with a handgun.
Police say he ‘cocked’ the weapon and it discharged, grazing three persons.
Investigators say five individuals were identified as victims and Sebree left the scene.
Officers say they later found him and he surrendered without incident.
Sebree was taken to the Vanderburgh County jail where he faces charges of aggravated battery and criminal recklessness.
Police say the incident remains under investigation and more arrests may be forthcoming.
