The controversial Indiana Lt. Governor appeared on WNIN's Shively and Shoulders

Indiana’s Lt. Governor visited WNIN to appear on the Shively and Shoulders program. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

Program co-host Pat Shoulders thanked Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith for accepting the invitation, unlike some elected leaders who have been ducking interviews and town halls.

Beckwith says it’s part of the job:

"I think elected officials have a duty to get out, talk to their constituents, take the arrows, answer the questions, and push back a little bit. If you believe what you believe then defend it, right?."

Beckwith sparred with fellow conservative Les Shively over DEI programs at Indiana University, with Beckwith maintaining that such programs have gone too far and are discriminatory. Shively disagreed:

Shively: "My son just graduated four years ago. He never experienced any of that." Beckwith: "I can tell you right now they say they're experiencing it. And they've told me that. I've got a professor in the media department that has said I can't share my faith, I can't share my conservative values because I will be targeted."

The discussion also touched on property taxes, cuts to local governments, and even slavery.

Shively and Shoulders airs Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. on WNIN Public TV.
