An Evansville Police horse named Scotty has died; he was a part of the EPD's Mounted Patrol

The Evansville Police Department is mourning the loss of a four-legged member of the force. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The EPD says the horse named Scotty died Sunday after an extended illness.

The 16-hand palomino joined the department’s Mounted Patrol in the summer of 2019.

The EPD says Scotty participated in more than 60 community engagements each year.

He also attended the Kentucky Horse Park Mounted Police Colloquium each year and helped the EPD Mounted Patrol win second place in the team competition in 2023.

The department thanks the community for supporting those who serve—whether on two legs or four.
