The Vanderburgh County Sheriff says a parent "did the right thing" by bringing their child to the sheriff's office after burglaries

A juvenile has been arrested for allegedly breaking into cars while wearing a clown mask. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office arrested the juvenile after a series of car break-ins and attempted residential burglaries in the Wellington Acres neighborhood.

Deputies responded to reports from residents who discovered items had been stolen from their vehicles last Thursday.

Home surveillance footage captured video of the suspect wearing a clown-like mask at the scene. Sheriff’s deputies later found the mask discarded in the road.

A few days later, similar incidents were reported in the same neighborhood.

Images and video were shared on social media and as a result, a parent came forward and brought their child to the Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Noah Robinson says the juvenile provided a full confession and investigators recovered multiple stolen items.

The suspect was transported to the Youth Care Center.

Robinson praised the parents who demonstrated what he called “courage and integrity by doing the right thing.”
