Summer Starts with a Heat Wave

NWS Paducah

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Evansville area through at least Tuesday

Summer officially arrives Friday night and forecasters say it will usher in a heat wave. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory that begins Saturday afternoon and runs through at least Tuesday.

Forecasters say temperatures will reach the low to mid 90s each day, with humidity levels pushing the heat index as high as 108.

Experts say during the heat wave, you should limit time outdoors and take frequent breaks, drink plenty of water, and always double-check for children or pets inside vehicles.

The weather service says heat is the leading cause of weather-related deaths most years.

Sunny, hot conditions are forecast through Wednesday, with the next chance for rain on Thursday.
