A pair of Evansville Police Supervisors are accused of fraud, misconduct, and racketeering

Two Evansville Police supervisors face charges of Racketeering, Official Misconduct, and Fraud. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The supervisors are a married couple, Lieutenant Stacy Shirley and Sergeant Bill Shirley.

EPD Sgt. Sgt. Anthony Aussieker says an investigation began in May after concerns were raised regarding the Shirley’s off-duty employment with the Evansville Housing Authority.

Aussiecker say the probe determined that the couple reported hours worked that they had not worked.

The EPD says the discrepancies were corroborated through GPS and cell phone data.

A separate investigation was conducted into the Shirleys’ off-duty job at Dillard’s.

Police say evidence showed that Bill frequently clocked Stacy in for shifts while she was already on duty at the EPD.

Police say the actions were verified through pay records and in-store surveillance footage.

Investigators say Stacy also failed to work her full shifts for the EPD.

The couple has been placed on unpaid leave.

The Police Merit Commission will determine their future with the EPD.
