NWS Paducah

The weather service recorded higher temperatures, 19+ inches of rain, and 3 tornado outbreaks during meteorological spring in the Evansville area

It was a warm, wet and stormy spring in the Evansville area. WNIN’s John Gibson has a recap:

The National Weather Service in Paducah says Evansville received more than 19 inches of rain from March 1st to May 31st – the period known as meteorological spring.

Totals of 25-to-30 inches were observed across western Kentucky.

The amounts were anywhere from 2-to-10 inches above seasonal norms.

The weather serviced says the Tri-State also endured a busy severe weather season with tornado outbreaks on Mar 14th and 15th, Apr 2nd, and May 16th.

The Paducah office reported 54 tornadoes and 557 miles of tornado tracks across its four-state region.

The agency says temperatures in Evansville were more than two-degrees above the 30-year average.

Metrological summer arrived on Sunday. Astronomical summer arrives with the solstice June 20th.
