Forecasters Warn of Severe Storm Outbreak

NWS: Tornadoes, large hail possible in the Evansville area

Forecasters are warning of potentially dangerous weather today (Fri). WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The National Weather Service has placed the Evansville area in a Level 4 -- or moderate – risk of severe weather.

The last time forecasters put us at Level 4 was April 2nd, when tornadoes and flooding rains rocked the region.

Forecasters are warning of a “significant and dangerous severe weather outbreak” with the potential of strong tornadoes, widespread damaging winds, and large hail.

The weather service urges everyone to stay alert to weather conditions and have “multiple ways to receive warnings.”

You’re also urged to have a plan to quickly move to adequate shelter.

The projected timing puts the main line of storms hitting the Evansville area during the late afternoon or early evening.
