Chances Increasing for Severe Storms

NWS Paducah

The National Weather Service is calling for a slight risk of severe weather Thursday; a bigger risk on Friday

The Tri-State faces a slight risk of severe storms Thursday night and a bigger threat on Friday. WNIN’s John Gibson has a preview:

The National Weather Service will boost Thursday’s Level 2 risk to a Level 3 – or enhanced – risk of severe weather Friday and Friday night.

Forecasters say more than one round of storms will be possible with a “very favorable environment” for large hail, damaging winds, and possible tornadoes on Friday.

The agency says the overall threat is a “little muddy” but forecasters say they would be “quite surprised to not see something of significance Friday afternoon and evening.”

The weather service says it’s working on getting better specifics and timing information as the forecast picture develops.

Forecasters suggest you have multiple ways to receive potential warnings.

The Tri-State has seen numerous storms and flooding this spring.
