Evansville Man Arrested in Nationwide Sting

File

The U.S. Department of Justice arrested more than 200 people suspected of sex crimes against children

An Evansville man is among more than 200 people arrested across the U.S. in a crackdown of suspected child predators. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

The Department of Justice says its Operation Restore Justice resulted in the rescue of 115 children and the arrests of 205 child sexual abuse offenders.

The DOJ says the coordinated effort was executed over the course of five days by all 55 FBI field offices and other agencies.

Among those arrested was 55-year-old Raymond Robert Lapensee, Jr. of Evansville.

Lapensee faces three counts of Possession of Sexually Explicit Material Involving Minors.

Three more men in the Southern District of Indiana were also arrested in the crackdown.

Acting U.S. Attorney John E. Childress says it’s ‘our absolute responsibility as adults” to shield children from what he called “egregious predators.”
