Motorcyclist Arrested After High-Speed Chase

File

Zakei Amad Rasheed, 21, is accused of fleeing police on I-69

Police say an Evansville man has turned himself in more than a week after he fled from police on a motorcycle. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Indiana State Police say a trooper was patrolling I-69 near Lynch Road on Saturday, April 19th, when he saw a black motorcycle traveling north at a high rate of speed.

The ISP says the trooper found the rider when he had to slow for construction near the 18-mile marker.

Police say the trooper tried to stop the motorcycle but the rider passed the slow traffic on the shoulder at a speed of more than 100 miles an hour.

The officer terminated the chase after losing sight of the motorcycle in Gibson County.

The ISP says over the next several days, the trooper was able to identify the motorcycle rider as 21-year-old Zakei Amad Rasheed of Evansville.

An arrest warrant was issued yesterday (Mon) and Rasheed turned himself in at the Vanderburgh County Jail.

He posted bond and was released.

Rasheed faces charges including Resisting Law Enforcement, Reckless Driving, and Speeding.
