A foundation has been formed to help raise money to renovate the Evansville Coliseum. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
The new Veterans Coliseum Preservation Foundation says it will lead efforts to preserve, restore, and revitalize the historic facility.
The downtown building’s full name is the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Coliseum. It was built during World War I in 1916.
The new foundation says it will engage in local fundraising, grant applications, and strategic partnerships.
Vanderburgh County Commissioners learned last year that a renovation would cost about $30 million.
That’s more than officials were anticipating.
Evansville Civic Theatre plans to move to the Coliseum when the renovations are complete.
