File

Huntingburg Police call it a “very tragic event”

A woman and a child are dead after an apparent dog attack in Huntingburg. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Police and paramedics were called to a home in the 100 block of N. Geiger St. yesterday (Mon) afternoon.

Huntingburg Police say officers found an adult female and a child unresponsive inside the home.

Life-saving measures were performed and the juvenile was rushed to Deaconess Memorial Hospital.

But police say the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene and the child died at the hospital.

The victims’ names have not been released.

Huntingburg Police suspect the cause of death to one of the subjects was a dog attack.

It’s not clear what may have caused the other death.

Police says all dogs that were in the home were removed.

Indiana State Police were also called to the scene.

Foul play is not suspected.

Huntingburg Police says the department’s condolences are with the family and friends.

Authorities called the incident a “very tragic event.”
