Evansville Police have arrested two security guards after a fight inside a popular bar on W. Franklin St. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
41-year-old Johnathan Turner and 29-year-old Sean Shell both face charges of Felony Battery for their roles in the altercation at Chaser's Bar and Grill.
The EPD says it started after a confrontation between the victim and a bartender about an unpaid tab.
Investigators say after the victim made crude comments to the bartender and began to advance toward her, Chaser's bouncers stepped in.
Police say instead of escorting the victim outside in a sensible manner, security struck, kicked and kneeled on the victim several times, while dragging him, stopping on occasion, on the way out of the bar.
An off-duty EPD officer was working for Chasers but happened to be across the street assisting a citizen.
Police say the officer was unaware of the incident until he returned to Chaser's and found the victim on the sidewalk.
The victim spoke about what happened, said he would consult with his lawyer instead of pressing charges, and left on his own accord.
Video footage of the fight led police to arrest Turner and Shell.
