NWS: Tri-State Storm Risk Up Again

NWS Paducah

Forecasters increase threat to Level 3

Forecasters are again raising the chances of severe weather in the Evansville area. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The National Weather Service has placed the Tri-State in a Level 3 – or enhanced – risk of severe storms Friday night.

That’s up from an earlier Level 2 risk.

The agency also says there’s some uncertainty in how quickly the severe storms will clear out, with the threat potentially lingering into Saturday.

Dangerous flash flooding remains a concern, with the greatest impacts anticipated Friday night through Saturday night.

Suspected tornadoes and strong straight-line winds caused damage in the area Wednesday night.

CenterPoint Energy says 24,000 of its customers in southwest Indiana lost power.

Crews reduced the number to just over 2,000 Friday, but they’re keeping a wary eye on potentially more damage Friday night and Saturday.
