Tours will be offered Saturday at the new facility in Princeton

A ribbon will be cut this weekend, opening the new Gibson County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Sheriff Bruce Vanoven says the ribbon-cutting ceremony and flag-raising is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the new facility in Princeton.

Residents can tour what the sheriff calls a “state-of-the-art” facility from 1:00 to 4:00.

Attendees can also meet the staff and see live demonstrations of equipment, technology, and emergency response tactics.

The 30-million dollar project stemmed from a 2019 lawsuit against Gibson County that alleged jail overcrowding.

The new facility will hold 220 inmates. The current jail holds 120.

The sheriff’s office says the new facility will serve and protect the community for years to come.
