NWS Issues Timeline for Severe Storms

NWS Paducah

A Tornado Watch has been issued for the Tri-State. It's in effect until midnight Wednesday.

When will the severe storms hit the Tri-State Wednesday evening? WNIN’s John Gibson takes a look:

The line of storms is moving toward the area from the west ahead of a cold front.

The National Weather Service predicts the line will reach Harrisburg and Fairfield, as early as 5:30 pm.

The storms are expected to move into Mt. Vernon, Indiana as soon as 6:00 p.m.

Forecasters say the storms will reach the Evansville-Henderson area as early as 6:30.

The arrival time for Owensboro and Madisonville is as soon as 7:30.

Forecasters caution the times may fluctuate.

The weather service says while the risk of a tornado in any one spot is always low, they recommend you have a plan and a way to quickly find shelter if a tornado warning is issued for your area.

Experts say go to the innermost part of your home or business, on the lowest possible floor, and stay away from windows and glass doors.

If you’re outside, lie down in a gully, ditch, or low spot on the ground.

The approaching cold front is expected to stall and bring chances of heavy rain through Saturday.
