A Texas woman has been arrested for allegedly driving a crowded car more than 100 miles-an-hour on I-69. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy clocked the car traveling at 101 near the 34 mile marker Sunday afternoon.
The deputy stopped the car and found six passengers riding in the five-seat vehicle.
The sheriff’s office says the deputy identified the driver as 20-year-old Aniya Ivory of Glenn Heights, Texas and placed her into custody for Reckless Driving.
Ivory was taken to the Gibson County Jail where she was also charged with Possession of Marijuana and Neglect of a Dependent.
Since the I-69 extension opened between Evansville and the Crane Naval Center in 2012, sheriff’s deputies and state police troopers have stopped a number of vehicles along the route driving in excess of 100 miles an hour.
Construction of the extension is nearly complete in the Indianapolis area.
