Evansville’s Central Library will host an event Tuesday evening to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Tri-State Tornado. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Evansville Museum Chief Curator Tom Lonnberg will describe the impact of the 1925 twister on the region, as well as its 100-year legacy.

The EVPL says Lonnberg’s presentation in Central Library’s Browning Room will include many historical photos.

The tornado formed in Missouri and barreled through southern Illinois and into southern Indiana, killing nearly 700 people.

The town of Griffin, Indiana was wiped off the map. Princeton was also hard hit.

It’s recognized as the deadliest tornado in U.S. history. More than 2,200 were injured.

The event at Central Library begins at 6 p.m.
