NWS: Severe Storms Possible This Weekend

NWS Paducah

Forecasters says high winds, including tornadoes, can't be ruled out

Forecasters are becoming concerned about potential severe weather this Friday and Saturday. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The National Weather Service has placed the Tri-State in a zone of “enhanced risk” for severe storms.

That’s a three on a scale of five, with five being a “high risk.”

Forecasters are predicting two waves of storms, with the first hitting the Evansville area late Friday, and the second arriving Saturday afternoon.

The weather service is predicting widespread thunderstorms with high winds and possible tornadoes.

Outside of the storms, forecasters warn of 30-to-40 mile-an-hour wind gusts.

The agency says it will likely activate its storm spotters Friday night and Saturday.
