Got Mine Damage? Call Chandler Town Hall

Town of Chandler

Officials urge Chandler residents not to call 911 for a damage check

Warrick County officials are urging residents NOT to call 9-1-1 to report damage from an underground mine collapse in Chandler. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

Officials are asking residents to call the Chandler Town Hall if you have areas that need to be checked.

The Town Hall number is 812-925-6882.

Officials say they will dispatch someone to check the areas of concern.

They ask that you don’t call Warrick County Dispatch so the lines can stay clear for emergencies.

At least nine homes were damaged after an old mine collapsed under East Monroe St., causing some homes to crack and tilt.

Town officials say the collapse caused at least three water main breaks.

Officials shut off gas to homes and say new gas lines will be installed.

It’s not clear who will be responsible for the damage caused by the underground collapse.

Both the Department of Natural Resources and Homeland Security have been surveying the damage.
