After days of bitter cold weather, a warming trend is on the horizon. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
Single-digit temperatures are expected again Friday morning but they may be the last of the season – emphasis on MAY.
The National Weather Service says the mercury should reach the upper 20’s on Friday before rising above freezing on Saturday.
The warming trend is forecast to continue with a high in the low 40’s on Sunday, the low 50’s on Monday, and the mid-to-upper 50’s on Tuesday.
The next chance for precipitation is Wednesday and it will be in the form of rain with highs in the 50’s.
Forecasters say the dry period between now and Wednesday will also help bring down river levels.
The Ohio at Evansville is forecast to crest on Sunday at 44 feet – two feet above flood stage.
The beginning of meteorological spring is just over a week away – March 1st – while astronomical spring begins on the vernal equinox – March 20th.
