Bitter cold temperatures have become the main weather concern now that most of the snow has moved out of the Tri-State. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:
The National Weather Service says the area may still see some flurries or snow showers through Wednesday evening with little to no more accumulation.
About two inches of snow fell Tuesday night and Wednesday morning in the Evansville area, causing hazardous driving conditions and closing many schools.
A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10:00 A.M. Thursday.
Forecasters say single-digit temperatures and wind chills of -8 to -15 are expected Wednesday night.
Single-digit temperatures are also predicted Thursday night, before giving way to a slow warming trend.
The temperature is expected to top the freezing mark by Saturday.
The weather service also says no appreciable precipitation is forecast the next seven days which will help with ongoing flooding issues.
The Ohio River at Evansville is expected to crest Sunday at 44 feet – two feet above flood stage.
Many low-lying roads are closed by high water.
