The Tri-State is bracing for potentially heavy snow. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 9:00 Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service says the immediate Evansville area can expect two-to-five inches of snow, with higher amounts in western Kentucky and lesser amounts north of Interstate 64.
Forecaster Dan Spaeth at the Paducah office says there’s still some uncertainty:
"Still not certain just how much we're going to get but there's going to be a significant amount regardless."
With temperatures well below freezing, Spaeth predicts a dry snow:
"So obviously, drier, fluffy snow A) is easier to push around, which is good and bad because the wind can push it around too."
After the snow, temperatures are forecast to drop into the single digits Wednesday and Thursday nights, slowing the melting process:
"Whatever we get is going to be here for quite a while. It's not going to go anywhere."
Spaeth urges drivers to stay off the roads when the snow storm moves in.
It’s expected to reach Evansville Tuesday evening.
