Forecasters have upgraded the Winter Storm Watch to a Warning for the Tri-State. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:
The National Weather Service says the warning goes into effect at noon Tuesday and will continue until 9:00 Wednesday morning.
Forecasters are predicting four-to-six inches of snow in the Evansville area, and some spots could see more.
The agency says light snow is possible before the warning goes into effect, and that could cause some slippery conditions during Tuesday morning’s commute.
But the biggest impacts are expected during drive times Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.
Forecasters say the snow will be followed by colder air, with lows in the single digits and sub-zero wind chills Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
The temperature is not expected to rise above freezing until Saturday.
In addition, a Flood Warning goes into effect for the Ohio River at Evansville Tuesday.
Recent rains have sent area rivers higher.
