Forecasters say they’re growing more concerned about a potential flooding event this weekend. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the Tri-State.
It goes into effect at midnight Friday and runs through Saturday night.
Forecasters also say the threat of severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening is growing, especially in western Kentucky.
The agency is predicting two-to-three inches of rain in the Evansville area, three-to-four inches in Owensboro, and four-to-six inches in the Madisonville area.
Beyond Saturday, significant rises are forecast on the Green and Ohio rivers, with minor to moderate river flooding possible at several locations.
The rain is expected to be followed by bitter cold conditions with high temperatures staying below freezing next week, colder wind chills, and a chance of light snow Tuesday and Wednesday.
