A Vanderburgh County man is in custody accused of trying to kill a woman during a domestic dispute. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested Braxton A. Morris following the incident at a home on Char Mar Lane.
During the altercation, Morris allegedly retrieved a crossbow, loaded it, and fired an arrow at the victim, that became lodged in a staircase railing.
The sheriff’s office says he then retrieved a firearm, pointed it at the victim and later discharged it inside the home.
The victim escaped with the help of a third party and contacted 911.
Due to concerns that the suspect might harm himself, deputies tried multiple times to contact him by phone and PA announcements.
Evansville Police Department provided an indoor drone that found Morris unresponsive on a couch.
Deputies then took him into custody without further incident.
The victim sustained a broken wrist and a head injury, and was transported to Deaconess Midtown Hospital.
Morris faces numerous charges, including Attempted Murder, Domestic Battery, and Strangulation.
