Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry has announced recipients of her administration’s Forward Together grants. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
Terry says the half-million dollars in grants from American Rescue Plan money is designed to support non-profits that strengthen neighborhoods and provide pathways out of poverty.
Applicants could apply for up to $35,000 and seven of the 18 chosen are receiving the top amount.
They are: Ark Crisis Children’s Center, Aurora Housing, Building Blocks, Christian Life Center, Echo Community Health Care, Habitat for Humanity and the Lampion Center.
Other recipients of the Forward Together grants are Carver Community Organization, Joshua Academy, Little Lambs, Missing Pieces, Dream Center, Echo Housing, Easterseals Rehabilitation Center, Ozanam Family Shelter, Patchwork Central, Arc of Evansville, and UE’s Emily M. Young Assessments Center.
The city received 79 applicants seeking more than two-and-a-half million dollars.
Terry’s office says successful applicants met all eligibility requirements and demonstrated sustainability beyond the scope of funds requested.
The applications were reviewed by a committee of volunteers.
