Overnight Fire Injures Two, Damages House

City of Evansville

The blaze in the 2600 block of W. Virginia St. sent one person to a hospital

Two people were injured in a house fire on Evansville’s West Side. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Central Dispatch sent Evansville firefighters to the 2600 block of W. Virginia St. early Friday, after a police officer and a neighbor reported a house fire.

The first crew to arrive reported a working fire with one person still inside the one-and-a-half story house.

Firefighters found the missing person on the porch and helped them away from the burning house.

EFD Deputy Chief Kim Garrett says the fire started on the first floor near and firefighters extinguished the flames.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation.

Garrett says one person was taken to a hospital. Another person suffered a minor injury.

No firefighters were hurt.
